Websites from professional associations are useful sources of reliable information on trends and issues, although they typically will not count as "scholarly sources" for academic research purposes. However, some organizations may provide online access to their publications, which may be peer-reviewed. Be sure to follow guidelines from your instructor when using websites for your assignments.
The American Dental Association is the oldest and largest organization representing professional dental assistants and currently describes, “its mission as advancing the careers of dental assistants and advocating for the dental assisting profession in matters of education, professional activities, credentialing and legislation. To promote the ideals and growth of the Association which aid in the accessibility and delivery of quality oral health care to the public.”
Other professional organizations within the field of Dental Assisting may also maintain websites that are useful sources of information. Among them are:
TIP #1: USE SITES RECOMMENDED by sources that have editors, professors, scholars, scientists, or librarians who review and select the best sites. Recommended links lists can be found in these research guides created by our librarians, and online databases such as Britannica, CQ Researcher, CREDO Reference.
TIP #2: USE FORMAT TERMS when using a search engine such as Google:

TIP #5: USE LOTS OF SEARCH WORDS that relate to your topic. Think of synonyms, variant forms, and plurals. Consider what words might be used by journalists or popular media, as compared to scientists, specialists, or researchers. Remember, you are searching a HUGE database with all kinds of content. Maximize your chances for success by including as many search words as possible. Some examples:
