Licensed Vocational Nurse

Here you will find library and internet resources for research on topics and issues in Licensed Vocational Nursing

Introduction

The Nursing program at College of the Redwoods offers both an Associate of Science and a certificate in Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN). Programs in this field provide educational opportunities for students seeking careers as Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN). Upon completion of the appropriate program, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN). Students who have completed this program and have California Recognition of Licensure as a Vocational Nurse may find employment as LVNs or may apply to the LVN-RN program.

The College of the Redwoods also offers a LVN/Paramedic to Registered Nurse program that is three semesters long and assists a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Paramedic in becoming a Registered Nurse.

Go to the Health Occupations department website for a list of the degrees and certificates offered. Check with a counselor to see what classes are currently required for these degrees.
