Art Career Sites

Art is a very broad field, and it covers a wide range of media that are used in fields from advertising to performing arts to industrial design as well as fields such as museum operation or conservation.  If you are not sure what careers might be available, a good place to begin might be the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook, which describes various fields in which art degrees can be used.  The OOH gives job projections as well as information about expected salaries, working conditions, training requirements, and more for each field.

Another valuable source for career ideas is O*NET Online. You can enter a keyword on the home page of O*NET, such as "Artists", and pull up a list of related occupations.  Click on an occupation to get a detailed breakdown of typical tasks, working conditions, technology skills required, what the working environment is like on a daily basis, and information about wages and salaries that drills down to the state and local level.

Once you have an idea of specific job titles and types of work you're interested in, the sites below are good places to look for more detailed information and possible job openings.
