The Council for Exceptional Children is a professional association of educators dedicated to advancing the success of children with exceptionalities. We accomplish our mission through advocacy, standards, and professional development.

Humboldt Autism Alliance was founded by seven mothers with children diagnosed with autism in the Humboldt County, California area. The HAA board now consists of mothers of children with a diversity of needs.

Founded in 1975, The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States serving children, adolescents and young adults with special needs related to autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse and emotional challenges.

This center is one of 21 regional centers that have been established throughout California. Regional centers came into being through State legislation, sponsored by Assemblyman Frank D. Lanterman and others, in answer to the needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families. Regional centers are legislatively mandated, are voluntary, and are available throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regional centers also provide services to prevent or lessen the impact of developmental disabilities.
