Multicultural USA

General resources on multiculturalism in the United States.

Introduction

The United States is a multicultural society, with people whose origins - either their own, or their ancestors - come from a wide variety of different places and cultures. Rather than the old-fashioned concept of a "melting pot", where people blend into a homogeneous culture, many people today prefer to describe the United States as more of a stew . . . where different cultures and ethnic groups retain their distinct identity but blend to create something unique through their shared experiences.

This guide provides general resources on multiculturalism in the United States and how it affects our society.  In addition, several of the tabs on the left redirect to separate research guides on specific communities.
